"I do not spend a lot of time watching tv, but there is one show that I never miss. I have been an avid watcher of “Desperate Housewives” since the first season. This show is the final season and I wanted to make sure I watched every episode. I thought the season was starting a week later than it actually was, so I missed the first episode. I was so mad! Then I realized that with Direct TV I can watch all of the old episodes on demand. I was able to watch the first episode and got caught up before the second episode. I also was able to set it to record every episode so that I don’t miss another one. I could also watch past seasons on demand and relive all of the drama all over again. At least now I know that when the show does not come one anymore, I will still be able to watch it. I thought I was going to have to find a new show when “Desperate Housewives” quit airing, but I think I will just watch all of the seasons again. "

Time does fly!

I was putting ornaments on the Christmas tree this morning while having a cup of coffee. Turned on my laptop and thinking of writing a post about The Steam Team and I remembered one of my posts I made for it. It was a year ago. It's Christmas time again but I am in Turkey now!

'Early Morning Accident

I was enjoying having my coffee sitting on the couch and watching my son playing with his lightsaber yesterday...Until he accidentally hit my coffee cup and coffee was spilled on the rug. Lol. I hate stains!! I have a lightweight deep cleaner so why would I worry about, right? Wrong! Because I ran out of cleanser. Ugh!

Enjoy turned into pain:( I grabbed a pack of baby wipes and started to work on removing the stain. Baby wipes always work. Baking soda and vinegar/salt or dish liquid are commonly well known stain removers and when I searched yesterday, I found out that beer is the another solution for stains. Do you know that? It literally lifts it out by pouring a bit of beer right on top and rubbing the beer lightly into the material. Probably this process needs to be repeated a couple of times to remove all traces of the stain. Honestly, I never thought to use beer as a stain remover before. Will keep one of these rug cleaning tips in mind for next time:) '

Between summer and winter..

One of my favorite products of Panera Bread is 'Potato Soup'. Yesterday, I was thinking of it but since there is no Panera Bread in Izmir, I decided to make my own potato soup. We all realy liked it and I want to share this recipe with you guys.



3 potatoes(peeled,cut in to 1-inch cubes)
4 cups chicken broth
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Crushed red pepper flakes,
Dry mint
Fresh ground black pepper, salt
2 cups milk
2 teaspoon plain yogurt


Place potato cubes in a pot. Enough water until cover and cook until tender.
Add chicken broth,milk, yogurt, onion powder, black pepper and salt to flour, mixing until well blended and cook until thickened.
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add red pepper flakes, mint for garnish.

I love soup even though it's summer.I also love icy water even it's autumn and winter. Weird ha?

I was checking everstar ice machine, maybe you may interested in buying ice maker so want to share it with you guys. You may also need a bbq grill light which is very helpful actually in the dark to see what you're doing and avoid catching anything on fire when you're grilling outside.

Planning my son's Halloween mummy costume

It's never too early to start planning for Halloween when you're a parent. I've learned from experience that you don't want to be the parent that doesn't have the right Halloween costume for your kid and has to buy whichever leftover costumes are still there. That happened to me last year and I thought that my son was going to never forgive me for it.
This year I asked him very early on what he wants to be for Halloween and he told me a mummy so I knew that I could finagle a really cool DIY costume for him. I looked online with my wireless internet Sacramento to find all kinds of ideas for it. I decided to take a combination of all of those costume ideas.

The kids DIY mummy outfit that I've been working on hard is really starting to come around.
I even dyed the fabric with coffee to make it look all old and weathered. I'm not finished sewing all of the wraps on my son's shirt and pants but I'm going to have it finished in time for him to wear to his friend's Halloween party.

Today's speciality and more chicken recipes!!!

I took a look at my chicken recipes today and one chicken recipe caught my eye. It's one of our family favorites but since I started to work again, I haven't had much time to cook it :( So, I went to the grocery store, bought some ground chicken and made it as a Sunday's speciality. We all love chicken and are always looking for more chicken recipes

home style chicken burger

ingredients
2 lb ground chicken
4 slices bread (squeezed)
1 egg
1/4 cup parsley(finely chopped)
1/2 teaspoon blackpepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 onion(minced)
1 clove garlic(minced)

Mix all the ingredients together squeezing with fingers to incorparete till smooth.
Shape into petties firmly. Serve in hamburger rolls with greens,
pickles, tomato slices, onion..Up to you guys!

If you like chicken and cook often probably you know this but if you are just starting to cook, I'd like to share a few tips about chicken with you guys;

-Never allow cooked chicken to sit at room temperature for more than 2 hours.

-Freeze uncooked chicken if it is not to be used within 2 days. If properly packaged, frozen chicken will maintain top quality in a home freezer for up to 6 months.

-Thaw chicken in the refrigerator, under cold running water, or in the microwave - never at room temperature, which provides bacteria with an ideal temperature to grow.

Do you use boneless- skinless chicken breasts often in recipes?

-Package them for the freezer in recipe-size portions. This lets you thaw only the amount you need and prevents extra pieces of raw chicken. Also cutting boneless skinless chicken breasts into pieces can be a slippery task. For the safer way, cut the chicken while it is partially frozen. It's much easier to handle:)

-Always cook chicken until well done, not medium or rare. When the chicken is completely cooked, the juices should run clear.

Since school's started and I started to work again, no time for blogging guys. Honestly, I miss my days full of cooking and blogging. I'm going trough another part of my life and it is different than last 10 years. Finding balance is not easy Anyway, w'all are OK. Big changes take time!

Summer Camp

Who in their right mind would want to run a summer camp? That’s what I should have been asking myself about 5 years ago when I bought this place but I didn’t and here I am, the owner of a fully functioning summer camp out in the Adirondacks. Don’t get me wrong, I love kids and being outdoors all the time but it’s been a big hassle getting through all the red tape and the parents are the worst. They’re always in my grill about something! I’ve slowly been upgrading this camp to be more a reflection of what I wanted it to be by adding stuff like pillowtop mattresses for all the beds and a rope swing out onto the river. I even got http://expertsatellite.com/ satellite for the counselors’ cabins so when they’ve got a day off they really feel like they can take some time and chill! I think the place is great but it’s a lot more work than I ever imagined it would be. Isn’t everything worthwhile, though?

17 years old being together and married for 13 years....

This city is hot! I'm trying not to tan more lately. As long as the AC is on, I enjoy trying on some new tops and I like seeing if clothes in my closet fit me:)

Pantry Recipe Box

Where do you keep your recipes? I have a drawer which I only put my recipes in. Recently though, I saw a pantry recipe box on the Handpicked Collection Website and I've been thinking about it ever since. It's a good idea, isn't it? After a 10 hour flight to Izmir, the heaven of Turkey!

I thought I would cry after years when I saw my mom and my sisters,

We laughed, giggled until morning that night.

Printer ink, online shopping, rainy day ...

My printer ink cartridge getting low on ink again?
I can't believe how soon the printer ran out of ink.
Hmmm...it's not hard to find out!
Probably, my son printed Micheal Jackson photos again!!!

I looked for cheap ink online.. Refilling inks can save more money than buying new one:)
Even the best quality ink cartridge refill kit isn't going to help much if you don't know what you are doing when actually refilling ink cartridges. Be sure to refill your cartridges in a clean environment. Most refill kits rely on a needle and syringe to inject new ink into your old ink cartridge. 4 potatoes
4 boiled eggs
4 rashers turkey bacon
1 cup milk
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp flour

My retired waffle maker is round. Cuisinart WAF 100 4 Slice Belgian Waffle Maker is large, square, has 4 deep pockets give you 4 waffles at a time.

I prefer easy recipes in weekdays. But on weekends, I like to surprise my hubby and my son with a little different taste especially for Sunday brunch. I always make waffles with baking powder and even though I love baking and kitchen sometimes I buy frozen waffles..Oh yes, I do.. But today, to celebrate my new waffle maker I prepared real Belgian waffle batter (with yeast instead baking powder) and tested my recipe with the new waffle maker, before Sunday:) Result?

I'm so OK with the result... lighter(because of the yeast),

thicker, bigger- and not dry(because of Cusinart WAF 100 4-Slice Belgian Waffle Maker),
and more crispier(because of the egg whites).

Well, hello weekend!

recipe
For the best result, prepare the batter the night before or at least 3-4 hours before.

W a f f l e d o u g h
(makes 6 waffles)

-ingredients-
3/4 cup milk
3.5 g dry yeast
1/2 tsp sugar

Warm 3/4 cup of milk(lukewarm),
mix in yeast and add 1/2 tsp of sugar and set aside (don't refrigerate)

2 large egg+ 2 egg whites
3/4 a stick of butter
2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
L e t ' s a d d m o r e f l a v o r :))
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp lemon zest
a pinch of salt
Separate egg whites and yolks. Mix whites with a mixer until fluffy, put aside. Mix dry ingredients(flour,sugar and salt) in a deep bowl. Add yolks, yeast mixture,vanilla, cinnamon, lemon zest and butter(melted) and mix by hand or using dough hook. Gently add the beaten egg whites into the the dough

Leave the dough to rest in room temperature until it gets double
(at least) or triple!
Simply pour batter onto the deep pockets on a preheated( hot) and greased waffle maker.


Top with syrup, fruit

Sunday..Sunday!!!

A friend of ours stopped over yesterday. We had a fun conversation which I really needed lately..After a while he was busy on internet and said 'wish me luck'. He was so quiet. I'm bored, lol. I wondered what was he doing? Do you guys wanna know??? Online Casinos for USA Players!!!

He passed away 11 years ago..Turkish coffee was one of his favorite drinks.
