I feel like the world is spinning faster than it used to. How about you?
Of course, we can also attribute this to age. But I also read and listen to researchers who feel the same way.
We’re still caught up in the rush of 12 months, 24 hours… yet the speed of time isn’t measured only by clocks; it’s also about the intensity of what we experience.
Every moment feels fuller, more aware, faster… That’s why sometimes we need to pause, take a breath, notice the small things, and feel our own steps.

Writing feels good at times like these.
The pen becomes your best friend — honest, putting whatever you say onto paper without distortion, helping you understand why something resonated when you read it again.
Even if you forget your words, those lines are always there.
As we say,
“words fly away, but writing remains.”
AI
How did it become so central to our lives?
Perhaps the best approach is to use artificial intelligence only when truly necessary —
not only for the sake of our own thinking,
but also because of its environmental impact.
Cooling data centers requires substantial amounts of water and energy.
In arid regions, rising demand can put real pressure on local water resources.
As in every aspect of life…
it’s up to us to maintain balance.
While writing this post, I asked AI for some numbers. I also checked the accuracy of the data I found.
Then it immediately said, “Let me prepare a visual for you.”
I replied, “I already have a photo. Let’s not overwork and waste water.” :)
“It was such a perfectly fitting thought for me,” it said… You know how AI adjusts its behavior as it gets to know someone.
Ah, you all…
If only there were fewer “what ifs”…
We got here with phrases like,
“Oh come on… are we supposed to save the world?”
And now, it truly is in a state that needs saving.
We’ve taken to the streets together,
trying —
to find a way.
Keep going.
Yola devam.
Dünya biziz.

This really speaks to me. I fell like AI used to be a tool, and now it's a crutch. An addiction, almost.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, humanity struggles to maintain its balance.
DeleteAI reminds me of kudzu. The south introduced it to roadsides to help with erosion, but it quickly took over, and now they can't get rid of it.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a powerful analogy.
DeleteMaintaining a balance with technology is a conversation we need more often. I like your choice to skip the generated image to save resources. Your focus on the environmental impact of data centers is very insightful.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I really believe we need more conversations about technology and its effects on the environment. Happy to hear it resonated with you.
DeleteI totally agree. There's really something special about writing with a pen, like in the old times, with no rush. It feels real, therapeutic, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Lately, I’ve been really missing so many things from the past.
DeleteI love how this piece honours the enduring power of words and the way writing captures moments, feelings, and stories that might otherwise slip away. Your reflections remind me that in a fast-changing world, putting thoughts to paper (or screen) becomes a kind of heartbeat — something lasting to return to and share with others. Thank you for such a beautiful reminder of why we write, remember, and treasure the written word long after the moment has passed.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this thoughtful reflection. Writing has always been my way of making sense of moments and preserving what matters. I’m grateful it resonated with you.
DeleteI love what you said about pausing, taking a breath and stepping back for a bit. We all need it. The chaos of life will never go away but it's up to us how to deal with it and as far as AI goes, it's here to stay whether we like it or not.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Stepping back is sometimes the bravest move.
DeleteI liked the bit where you talked about writing being a quiet kind of legacy. Not in a dramatic way, just in the sense that our thoughts get to sit somewhere solid instead of disappearing into the air.
ReplyDeleteThat idea has stayed with me too. I’m happy it spoke to you.
