Surprise Ending!

Have you seen 'It's Complicated' yet? You know I love romantic comedies:)
This complicated and funny movie is from the same director(Nancy Meyers) of Something's Gotta Give which I loved that movie too. I laughed a lot when watching that movie!
'It's Complicated' has surprise ending. If you haven't seen this one yet, enjoy watching Oscar-worthy actors Baldwin and Streep in this fun movie! I enjoyed to watch this Meryl Streep movie much more than 'Mamma Mia'.

Our weekend was relaxing and yummy!!!

It was beautiful out here on Friday and Saturday.

After the school we hanged together around our house!

He's eating his lollipop he brought from the school:-)

and telling me about his day..

Somehow he can't talk without using his hands:-)

On Saturday, Aria and I went to the Venetian Shore Park

and enjoyed to spend a few hours together...

and enjoyed the warm sand..

Sun was shining brightly over the ocean...

The shore was beautiful and so relaxing...

When we got back home I baked a few eggplants and potatoes.

I got those baby eggplants last week. They were yummy!

Baked&Stuffed Eggplant;

Combine cubed tomatoes, cucumber, chopped scallion, parsley,

finely chopped Romain lettuce and stuff each eggplant with this mixture.

Drizzle with the dressing.

Dressing;

Olive oil, garlic(minced), balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper.

It was delicious! Aria loved it.

Even though he is not a big fan of eggplant :)

Baked Potatoes;

We all love baked potatoes mixed with Parmesan cheese,

topped with a teaspoon whipped butter each

and sprinkled with chopped chives...

Mmmmmm that was a quick ride to heaven!!!

Festival..Festival!!!

Today is Kids Holiday in Turkey. April 23 International Children's Day. It's one of my favorite Turkish Holidays. From all over the world kids go to Turkey, stay with Turkish families, have friends from every nations and show their national dances on TV. On this day, the children also replace the parliamentarians in the Grand National Assembly and hold a special session to discuss matters concerning children’s issues.
When I told my son about this, he said; Wow, it's cool!!!

Caring for Earth!

I always remind him to turn off the light before leave the bathroom.



He came from the school today, showed his 'Caring for Earth Book' to me he colored and went to the bathroom(as usual). He was washing his hands and said;
'Hey mom, let's not forget to turn off the light after use the bathroom.It's really important!' :))

I'm loving this heart-shaped fruit ;)

I got a lot of strawberries this week. My strawberries usually doesn't last long enough to do anything:) Hubby and I top them with whipped cream and eat them. Or I make strawberry sauce. Aria is not a big fan of strawberries.
I placed a single layer of strawberries in a container lined with a paper towel and sealed with the lid to keep them one week fresh. Lol, this week, I had more strawberries than we could eat.
Today I froze some of them. I didn't use any sugar or syrup. I washed, hulled and drained the strawberries. Then placed them on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper.
Once frozen I put them into freezer bags.




And I used the rest of it to make this fresh strawberry sauce. I also make this simple sauce with frozen strawberries. I like to keep this sauce on hand so makes great topping on ice cream, yogurt, pancakes, waffles, desserts without sugar!



Clean strawberries and remove stems and cores. Put in a blender. Add vanilla and Splenda to desired sweetness and blend all ingredients until smooth. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. You are done! Yummy!

When I was preparing strawberries Aria kept telling me about one of his favorite cartoon shows on TV. Adventure Time with Finn&Jake. Finn is a silly kid who wants to be a hero one day! Jake is his dog and his best friend. My son never misses an episode of their adventures and can't even wait to watch this cartoon every Monday!

Lol, the sauce was ready but Aria was still talking about last episode of this cartoon!!!

Singing all the way home!

I woke up hearing David Archuleta/Crush today again:). My son loves this song along with him and his other songs. He sings with him.
-Mom, I still need to work on this song..I don't know all the words!
-You sound good..What about your spelling words? Are you ready for the test?
-Mom??
-Whaaattt???
-I'm trying to concentrate here!
-Yeah, yeah!

That is how I started my day this morning :)
The bus driver was smiling at us today! Lol, I didn't know he started to sing in the bus too...All the way home!!!

Hope y'all are having a great weekend. Aria had a play-date today. Hubby and I dropped him off at his friends house and got a chance to spend some time together:) It was sunny but windy here today. We didn't want to hang out outside. Hubby said 'let's go to see 'The Bounty Hunter' which I really wanted to see this movie after I saw the trailer. Have you seen it yet?

(Divorced couple Nichol(Jennifer Aniston) and Milo(Gerard Butler) may not have been able to make marriage work, but if Milo and Nicole can just stay alive long enough to solve the murder, they might discover they're not such a bad team after all!!!
If you like romantic comedy and also action it is fun to watch them together).

April, April!!!

I am loving all the flowers in bloom. Smelling them all the way while walking every morning.
All the brightness and colors..





I am loving fresh fruit and veggies, playing with them and creating delicious recipes. I'm loving all the brightness and colors. Makes me feel happy, hopeful, thankful.
I'm loving feeling fresh in April!





I have some zucchini. And I'm not going to let them sit around.

Let's Bbq!

Beautiful weather! ... I smell flowers, I smell lilacs from our front yard. Love them!
We are hanging out in the backyard today and enjoying this wonderful day!
This weather makes me feel hungry :)



Ok, I don't smell lilacs anymore! But right now, I think, I'm ok with that:)



*Grilled Chicken Drumsticks

• 2 garlic cloves(pressed)
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 8 chicken drumstick, pepper, salt, oregano
  
• 1 lemons, zested and juiced
• Lemon slices from 1 lemon

Pour marinade into resealable plastic bag; add chicken and seal. Toss to coat the chicken well. Marinate at least 30 minutes. Place them on grill and cover with aluminum foil sheet. I use aluminum foil on grill. Helps reduce mess!

*Grilled Colorful Bell Peppers

• 8 colorful bell peppers. (Cut into quarters and remove the seeds).
  
• 4 tomatoes and
• 2 onions (Cut each of them into 4 pieces)

Sometimes I add zucchini and mushrooms.

Brush them with olive oil and sprinkle salt and oregano on them.

I store leftover grilled bell peppers. Place them in a jar. Cover with olive oil. Refrigerate them to use later.



*Herbed Potato Salad

• 4 potatoes(boiled, peeled and cubed)

• 1/2 cup diced scallions

• 2 handfull parsley(chopped)

• 2 tbsp oregano

• 3 hard boiled eggs(cut into 4 pieces each)

• 1 tbsp mayo

• juice of 1 lemon

• 3 tbsp olive oil

• salt, pepper

Place potato cubes and eggs in a bowl. Add parsley and the scallions and toss them gently. Combine rest of the ingredients in a small bowl and drizzle the dressing over the salad.

Blue skies, sunshine and temperatures in the 60s are on tap through Wednesday. We enjoyed being outside in our backyard yesterday! My best friend came over and we sit outside, had some tea, talked, laughed, watched Aria playing and we joined him most of the time making bubbles:)
