ZEYTINYAGLI PIRASA (leek with olive oil)

Leek reduce bad cholesterol levels, while raising good cholesterol levels.
Stabilize blood sugar and lower high blood pressure.
Here is a vegeterian recipe that you will never feel guilty after eating.

Ingredients:
1 bunch of leek, 1 onion(finely chopped)
2 tablespoon rice, 1 tomato (chopped)
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup water



Wash the leeks & cut into 2 inches pieces.
Heat the olive oil in the saucepan and
add onions.
Cook over medium heat until the onions are golden brown.
Add chopped tomato and leeks.
Put the lid on the saucepan.
Cook over low heat until they begin to soften.
Add rice, lemon juice, salt, sugar and water.
Stir gently, let it stand until rice is tender.
Let cool and refrigerate
Serve with fresh lemon juice.

tips (You can use orange juice instead tomato and sugar. I usually add chopped carrot . Today, I forgot ;)

piyaz

piyaz (Turkish bean salad)


Here is an easy recipe. Piyaz is Turkish Bean Salad that is done in layers. Starts with beans and ends with parsley. I used nothern beans in the recipe, however feel free to use whatever type of bean you like.Piyaz is commonly served by Köfte (Turkish Hamburger)

ingredients
2 cans of nothern beans (drained)
2 medium tomatoes (diced)
1 onion (cut finely in half moons)
1/2 cup parsley (chopped)
2 egg (hard boiled, sliced)
olive oil, red wine vinegar






Pour the beans in a medium serving bowl.
First add eggs than diced tomatoes, onions, followed by the parsley.
Add olive oil and vinegar. Ready to serve !

Tekirdag köfte, izmir köfte, akçaabat köfte,
kadin budu köfte, hasan pasa köfte, inegöl köfte ..
I was searching, just got this information and wanted to share with you. There are 291 types of köfte in Turkish Cusine. Finely minced meat mixed with spices, onions and other ingredients is shaped by hand and grilled, fried, boiled or baked. Köftes are named according to the cooking method, ingredients or shape.
Here is an easy recipe of köfte,
to please the kids-alike! :)

Ev köftesi
(home style grilled hamburger)
Ingredients:
2 lb. ground beef
1 onion (minced)
1/4 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
4 thin slices bread (squeezed)
1 egg
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoon salt






Combine ingredients for in a bowl and mix together squeezing with fingers to incorparate untill smooth. Shape into oval petties firmly. Prapere grill or heat skilled. Turn to cook both sides.
Goes great with salads and pilaf. Tonight I will serve with mashed potato and green salad.
